PopRockElectronica

A haunting, cinematic journey into a village that exists beyond time
and place, ‘Requiem For A Village’ is Steven Wilson’s most intimate
and imaginative work yet.
Blending dark folk, rock and electronica, the album unfolds as a
continuous 54-minute ‘film for the ears’, populated by strange
archetypes and eerie folklore.
The album is narrated by David Tennant and written with Andy
Partridge (XTC).
Steven Wilson is one of contemporary music’s definitive auteurs. A
six-time GRAMMY nominee and founding member of Porcupine Tree,
Wilson’s last three solo albums have all been Top 5 in the UK. His
most recent albums have garnered career best reviews, including one
that noted Wilson had somehow pulled off the unusual trick of being
able to do whatever he wants, whilst still achieving a level of
commercial success.
A pioneer in the world of spatial audio, Wilson has recently remixed
New Order, The Who, King Crimson, Suede, XTC and Tears For
Fears among many others.

2026 repress!

Here is the debut, self-titled album from a.s.o., singer/songwriter Alia Seror-O'Neill, and producer Lewie Day. 'a.s.o.' is a thematic consolidation of the previous three singles and an impressive artistic progression. Day and Seror-O'Neill show they've mastered the format of the radio-friendly pop song and found how to subvert it completely. Across eleven songs, they have built a rich and compelling body of work.

We know where we are now, emotionally complex, trip-hop torch songs for club freaks. But the palette has broadened to encompass ethereal dream pop à la Cocteau Twins, slow- burning AOR-soul, and dubwise stylings. As a result, 'a.s.o.' is a satisfyingly coherent listen but never a musical monoculture. Variously there are nods toward Julee Cruise, Fleetwood Mac, and the uneasy listening of Portishead. It's an album that wears its influences lightly, is never weighed down by them, and always sure of its own identity.

It's anchored by Alia's unique voice. Her words speak of restraint and release, taking us from the elegiac to the euphoric. This elegantly crafted, perfect pop music sounds like it has had enough of your shit. And Day's music is the perfect foil; deep, slightly menacing, restrained, and powerful. The album has a cinematic texture, as with David Lynch; the seemingly familiar becomes uncanny and strange the closer we look. a.s.o. take our emotions for a joyride before leaving us floating in space.

'a.s.o.' is a journey; by its end, we all are changed

'Within the current Finnish jazz scene’s colourful embrace of ear pleasing and spiritual-leaning ensembles, Fågelbörs have felt a bit like an anomaly. They’re a lean quartet adhered to a virtuosic puritanism and a stern belief that every gesture serves the whole.
'A combo composed entirely of underground veterans, they belong to what could be described as the third wave of Finnish improvised music; several of whom helped shape that movement in the early 2000s. Elsewhere their collective lineage wends a bendy path through recent years of Finnish free jazz, experimental music, and dub. They’ve been alternately affiliated with projects such as Rauhan Orkersteri, Jooklo Quartet, Mohel, Kemialliset Ystävät, Odd Funk Records, Muumiot, Pascal & Baya Rays, and more.
'As Fågelbörs they’re configured like the four cardinal directions, a dynamic and cosmos-scaled unit capable of summoning elemental blasts of chaos and ecstatic, life-affirming joy. On Bagelfårs, they expand the unique vision of entropy and melody they introduced with their brilliant debut Marjassa (Ultraääni, 2022). Together, Matti Luokkanen (sax), Jaakko Tolvi (percussion), Tuure Tammi (trumpet), and Tero Kemppainen (bass) lock as an Aylerian helix, where effervescent free improv is always counterbalanced with key moments of gleeful, marching band-like reverie and mournful dissolves into passages of narcotic blues.'

FIGI wants to take you along on his journey to find the answer to: what is up with vintage samplers? By interviewing DMX Krew on using his MPC1000 in the studio and on stage, asking away about Italo Brutalo's workflow with his samplers and Space Dimension Controller's wall of vintage AKAI samplers, he's trying to find out why so many great producers are still doing it the ''old school'' way. Covering topics like making your own music come alive, how samplers work, how swing works and research into why the AKAI MPC2000XL actually sounds the way it does. Perfect for producers who are interested in old samplers and might want to use them too, or who want to learn how to create similar artifacts in their own DAW. 2026 Repress

Gilles Peterson has partnered with Jean-Paul “Bluey” Maunick to reinvigorate the loose, protean energy of the early-80s Brit-funk scene. STR4TA sees them mine new musical possibilities outof that shared formative era. On “Aspects”, they revisit that

important period and the spirit that guided it: self-taught, DIY vitality, and a raucous energy built on live performance. Bringing a fresh slant to a sound first developed by groups like Atmosfear, Hi-Tension, Light of the World and Freeez – with Maunick, it should be noted, also a member of the latter two bands – it’s the first material that Maunick and Peterson have released together in over a decade.

It’s an idea that had been in the works for a while, but which was encouraged by a surprising catalyst: the award acceptance speech by Tyler, the Creator at the 2020 Brit Awards, where he shouted out the influence of “British funk from the 80s”. It was an acknowledgement of the particular sound that Maunick and his peers had honed, where their US influences were reoriented through their own circumstances. “Like everybody else who plays music, we tried to emulate our heroes,” Maunick says. “But we didn’t have the tools, we hadn’t studied music: were all playing by ear, and we were coming off bits and pieces that we liked off certain records.” This record is guided by the same ethos. An array of musical touchpoints have fed into the album’s direct, no-frills entries: each track’s parts are cut back to the bare bone. In writing and recording the album, the pair of them would work together to strike upon the point of departure – more naive, less considered – that had produced that killer Brit-funk sound. Peterson would dig out records that showed particular flashes or moods as jumping off points, and Maunick would then work with collaborators to build new directions out of those prompts or suggestions.

It’s the latest chapter in a story that started with Peterson interviewing Maunick in his parents’ garden shed, the first interview that the former had ever conducted. Later, they would reconnect to put out a string of celebrated Incognito albums on Peterson’s pioneering, now-defunct Talkin’ Loud imprint. Now, linking up once more, they unpick an under-appreciated flashpoint in a vital musical lineage, one which each of them has been instrumental in shaping.

SOMA35.4 - Slam 'Activate' Remixes

Soma's 35th anniversary remix series continues with SOMA35.4, turning its focus to one of the label's more recent defining tracks - Slam's 'Activate'.

Originally released as part of Slam's catalogue over the last decade, 'Activate' quickly established itself as one of the duo's most recognised and widely played tracks of the period. For SOMA35.4, the track is handed over to four artists who each bring a distinct perspective to its driving, functional foundations.

Luke Slater takes 'Activate' and applies his trademark precision and raw club-focused approach. Oscar Mulero delivers a tougher, more industrial interpretation, pushing the track deeper into his characteristic high-pressure sound. Phil Berg brings a hypnotic, groove-led edge to his version, while Nastia Reigel offers a more contemporary, atmospheric take that reshapes the track through a different sonic lens.

SOMA35.4 continues the ethos behind the 35-year project: bringing together established figures from Soma's history and artists operating within its wider sonic sphere.

What is an edit? A correction, a confession, a DJ tool, a mild act of vandalism—or simply the result of listening to somebody else’s record and thinking: very good, but what if this bit went on a little longer?
For his contribution to the Running Back Mastermix series, Gilles Aiken aka Edward opens a folder that has apparently been filling up for quite some time.
The Giegling resident’s thirteen edits reach back through years of DJing, collecting and producing. Made for sets rather than release schedules, they form something like a musical autobiography told through other people’s records: Carl Craig, Roman Flügel, Motohiko Hamase, Kirk Degiorgio, Aubrey, Sven Väth, Michael Rother and more.
From Japanese ambient jazz and Detroit techno to dub techno, house, trance and kosmische music, these are not attempts to improve records that didn’t need improving. They are the small interventions that happen after living with music for a long time: a rhythm exposed, an entrance moved, a passage extended, the unnecessary made necessary.
“These records mean a lot to me,” says Edward. “They consist of edits I’ve gathered over the years, some of them going way back. In a way, they reflect my musical journey. All of these artists have been a huge influence on me as a producer and DJ.”
Usually, such edits remain on hard drives, USB sticks and in vaguely labelled folders. This time permissions were requested, publishers located and, somewhere, presumably, a spreadsheet became very important.
Miraculously, everybody said yes.
Thirteen thank-you notes to the music that helped make Edward Edward. Naturally, they require three records.
Mastermixed accordingly.

Auto-Mirage is the result of an artistic exploration built around the idea of escape.

Many different settings could be associated with this album, without ever having to choose just one. It can feel like a carefree van trip with no particular destination, the start of a relaxed summer evening with friends or even a sleepless night filled with introspection.

Its alternative identity flows between indie and surf pop, with touches of jazz and soul influences. The arrangements are meticulously crafted, adding depth to the compositions as well as authenticity to the voice.

Auto-Mirage brings together recognized talents such as Olefonken (Hubbabubbaklubb) for the mixing part, Brian “Big Bass” Gardner for the mastering, the captivating voice of Swiss singer Sreya and the striking flights of UK harpist Rachel Kitchlew. This album blends visions and influences to create a project that can accompany anyone, in any situation, as long as it brings that sense of escape.

SWEEP02
Sweep

HouseMinimalTech

Sweep returns with its second release, bringing together Jigit co-head O.Bee and Unreleased boss Cem G. ‘Makes Me Feel’ is the first music to see the light from a long-standing friendship and collaboration shaped between their two homes, New York and Istanbul, and comes backed with a stirring remix from Giegling’s Edward.

O.Bee and Cem G bring forward a sound rooted in Istanbul’s music culture, developed through ReSolute’s warehouse parties on the outskirts of Brooklyn and refined at Berlin’s Club der Visionaere. It’s music that feels equally at home in all three settings. Dyed Soundorom’s Sweep is built around underground sounds with depth and groove — much like his own DJ sets — and this second release sits naturally within that world.

On side A, the original mix of ‘Makes Me Feel’ rolls out with a sturdy groove from the start. O.Bee and Cem G build the energy carefully, peppering the ethereal atmosphere with a repeated vocal clip as the tension grows. A variety of percussive layers and pads add depth, keeping you locked in. Halfway through, the vocal goes into full flow — scattered words bounce around like a jumbled poem, evolving into a call and response of dissipating voices on top of the rolling bass, fully hypnotizing. Underground music par excellence.

The flip features a rework from one of Giegling’s central figures, Edward, who adds a tougher edge to the original. Still operating in the deeper end of the spectrum, the remix plucks out the ‘Make me feel’ part of the vocal and uses it throughout. Dark, brooding and enchanting, Edward’s reinterpretation progressively adds more layers, increasing the dynamism while bringing further nuance to the atmosphere. A real treat for Edward fans…

If you caught Dyed Soundorom playing anywhere, you surely would have heard these cuts in the mix. Perfect dancefloor groovers… Now they’ve finally arrived on Sweep — c'est l'heure de la fête!

Patricia - Songs for Josephine
BALMAT23
Balmat

BeatsAmbient

Since his 2013 debut album, Body Issues, Max Ravitz—better known to you and me as Patricia—has been zeroing in on the kernel of an idea. Across seven albums for labels like Opal Tapes, Spectral Sound/Ghostly International, and Acid Test, he’s applied his hand to a lean, focused vision of electronic music, paring away excess to lavish attention on carefully sculpted acid lines, stealthy drum programming, and warmly emotive melodies. For all their restraint, though, his tracks could never be called merely rote or efficient; even at their simplest, they’re steeped in atmosphere and shot through with layers of mystery. Now, on his first record for Balmat, he strips things down even further, revealing the ambient essence of his music.

Across eight tracks, he pours everything he has into the most minimalist music of his career. Many tracks
seem to have been made with just one synthesizer patch and some carefully applied effects—a honing of
his materials that brings the nuances of his music to the fore as never before. Elastic pitches warp and drift; fleeting harmonies bring out new dimensions in his synths’ timbres. “Murmuration” sounds almost like
Baroque music in its lithe, undulating counterpoints. “Birdsong” takes a classic choral pad and stretches it
horizon-wide. And songs like the closing “Yearn” allow the expressive dimension of his music to fill the
frame as never before.

The title Songs for Josephine pays tribute to Max’s wife. For years, she’s told Max she’d like to hear him
make an album without drums; he assembled these songs over time, always with her in mind. “Even with
my beat-driven music, I’ve gotten a lot of comments in the past about the ambient textures tucked into
those tracks, so I feel like people have been drawn to that aspect of my music for a while,” Max says. “It’s
been an interesting change of pace making a record with that side of my sound as the focal point.”
For listeners familiar with Max’s music, the effect may be uncanny: This is Patricia through and through, but heard in a whole new way.

—

Balmat is a label with a cloudy outline. Jointly shepherded by Albert Salinas and Philip Sherburne, two
friends living in Cardedeu, Catalonia, and on the Balearic island of Menorca, Balmat grew out of Lapsus Radio, a weekly show born almost ten years ago. Balmat’s mission is simple: to foster new ideas, expand upon personal obsessions, and put enveloping sounds out into the world. “Balmat” means “empty” or “void” in Catalan. But quite apart from any negative connotations, we prefer to think of it in terms of possibility: a space waiting to be filled.

HouseMinimalTech

West Coast tech house had long since taken shape by the time it made its way over to the UK at the turn of the new millennium, and that's in part because of the pioneering work of the Casa Del Soul crew. The "DJ-first, producer-second collective" was founded in Denver in 1999 by a bunch of artists including DJ Darrell Foxx, who put out several records that laid out the blueprint for this raw, gritty sound across several EPs. His debut, 'The Collective EP', was one of them - two live-session, warehouse-ready tracks of low-slung and stripped-back tech with swing in the drums and dust in the percussion. The original DAT tapes were lost in a blizzard, which meant original copies have become ever more scarce and pricey on the second-hand market... until now. This fantastic remaster brings them back to life with the same distinctive rawness that made them favourites with Doc Martin and Tyrant (Craig Richards and Lee Burridge) the first time around. Utterly essential.

LP Limited Edition (500 copies) ‘Draw Out Your World” LP on Pink Marble Vinyl with signed postcard.

Caoilfhionn Rose's completely immersive fourth full-length offering - her first for Lost Map - is a powerful statement about new motherhood, strength and resilience through change and the importance of collaboration, community and placing trust in others. A softly unravelling collection of songs grown from dreamy improvisations and driving, beat-led folktronica. 'Draw Out Your World' arrives in the wake of Caoilfhionn having scored a #1 on the UK Official Independent Albums Chart, as a key contributor to Mancunian post-punk cult heroes The Durutti Column's critically-acclaimed 2026 release Renascent.

Raised in Manchester, Caoilfhionn developed a "deep, almost spiritual appreciation" of music in all its diversity. Drawing inspiration from nature, dreams, and personal experiences, she crafts songs that are both intimate and universal in their themes.
A performance at a local café caught the attention of Gondwana Records founder Matthew Halsall, who invited Caoilfhionn to work on her debut album 2018's Awaken. It became the first of three albums for the label; followed by 2021's Truly and 2024's Constellation. As a bandleader she headlined tours across the UK and Europe and has also supported artists such as Mammal Hands, The Breath, GoGo Penguin, Alabaster dePlume and Hania Rani.

Scattered ideas for what would become Caoilfhionn Rose's fourth album began accumulating long ago, in fits and starts and multiple iterations, with some tracks lying finished but unheard for years. Yet the record only truly began to take shape in the midst of a period of profound personal change. During a trip to Marrakesh, Morocco with her husband and long-time creative partner Rich Williams in January 2025, the pair spent evenings among the musicians and communities gathered beneath the night sky in Jemaa el-Fnaa. "The trip really reinvigorated us and led to lots of conversations about why we make music and why we love it," she remembers.

Several of Draw Out Your World's newest songs were born during Caoilfhionn's pregnancy with her first child. Although a deeply joyful time, she experienced severe sickness throughout, making music difficult (her voice changed so much during pregnancy that some vocals had to be re-recorded after her daughter arrived). In moments when she felt well enough, Caoilfhionn and Rich began shaping new ideas and songs from loops and fragments he had been creating, later bringing musicians together to record and remodel the compositions live in the studio. A combination of impulse and patience, individual expression and collective improvisation lies at the heart of Draw Out Your World. Four tracks emerged during two days of spontaneous invention in Copenhagen with multi-award-winning Danish electronic jazz duo Svaneborg Kardyb. Other, older pieces were patiently revisited and reworked with keyboardist John Ellis (a founding member of The Cinematic Orchestra). Caoilfhionn's ongoing collaborations with The Durutti Column have long informed her carefree approach to making music ("lots of improvising and experimenting… seeing what sticks"); here she pushes it further than ever. "It's been a lot about following my intuition and trusting in the process and musicians in the room," she says.

Started from a sweet little mini-hand-drum loop by Rich and finished with Awen Blandford's swooping cello lines, lullaby-like opener 'Reflecting The Light' was inspired by Caoilfhionn's pregnancy - "the feeling of my little girl growing inside me," as she puts it, and the almost supernatural feeling of connection to another person it brings. The much older 'Grow' - a song about how a person "keeps unfolding" through good times and bad - came close to appearing on Caoilfhionn's previous record Constellation in 2024 before finding renewed meaning and purpose here, reinvigorated by John Ellis's rolling Fender Rhodes. Set to finger-picked guitar and hazy electronics, the album's title track 'Draw Out Your World' drifts into view like a gentle parting of the clouds - a mellow but vivid reflection on dreams and realities and the pathways in between, with shades of Judee Sill and Linda Perhacs. By sharp contrast, 'Hidden Wars' - a song about trying to get away from spiralling negative thoughts - is set to a fiercely snaking groove inspired by Caoilfhionn's love of artists like Portishead and The Smile. The moodily languid and sparse 'Just To Be Alive' leans into Caoilfhionn's more electronic side, Nikolaj from Svaneborg Kardyb conjuring pure atmosphere on his swirling Juno synth, before 'To A Feeling' collides into a wild, wonky and raw jazz jam rising to Eleanor Colee's ripping saxophone solo. 'As I Find Myself Again' lands the album on a subtle ellipsis - its feeling of calm finality unsettled by the faintest flicker of a new melodic phrase at the end.

Minimalista Records' first vinyl does not choose one face: it chooses four. Two MURI collaborations (with C.I.S.C.O and C4STRO), a track from Martim Tonic, and the production debut of Little Freak, the new alias of Alex Mendes, form an Assemblage that favours diversity over uniformity. A conscious decision: to show from the very beginning that the label's philosophy, minimal as a lens not a limit, holds more than one sound. Lisbon, 2026. The first pressing of a scene taking shape.

Soul-stompers ‘Bye Bye Baby’ burn the floor, while double bass banger ’Dig It Up’ adds a boom to the bap that’ll have ’90s hip-hop heads throwing their hands in the air.

Other standout moments are stolen by the earth-shaking cinematics of psych-rock-meets-rap epic ‘Resistance’, featuring Knytro – The secret weapon MC for stadium acts like Chase & Status. BOOTS FOR DANCING — “DANCE & RESIST”

A band born from a UK-only JBs compilation and a refusal to be bored by rockism, Boots For Dancing present “Dance & Resist” — ten tracks of funk, protest, and dancefloor testimony.

Boots For Dancing (BFD) trace their roots to probably one single record: Giving Up Food For Funk, a UK-only JBs compilation released in March 1976. The band cross-pollinated P-Funk with the raw energy of Richard Hell & The Voidoids and No Wave. They were chasing adeliberate drift away from the “1,2,3,4” boredom of rockist punk, and toward something else entirely, band members all pulling in different musical directions.

The band came up during the era of the euphemistically-named Standard Music Business Contract — young, naive, and part of Thatcher’s mass youth unemployed, willing to be exploited by the “honest capitalism” of the music industry with little expectation of reward. Anything to get off the Giro.

About the Album

The title Dance & Resist captures the band’s guiding contradiction: that you can acclaim and celebrate something while still seeking to change, challenge, disrupt, or overturn it — the same spirit found decades later in people doing the Electric Slide at BLM protests.

LIMITED PRESS ACT FAST

Ever-evolving Amsterdam duo ANOTR continue their forward momentum with the release of their highly anticipated third studio album, ‘Withness’, out via their own imprint No Art. Rooted firmly in dance music, ‘Withness’ sees the pair refine their sound into their most dance-floor focused and cohesive project to date.

Born during their global tour, ‘Withness’ was shaped in real time: written, tested and refined on dancefloors across the world. Following the expansive, genre-blurring approach of their 2025 LP ‘On A Trip’, the duo felt a pull back toward the club - not as a limitation, but as a unifying space. “We really wanted to have a wide variety of songs that we can play out and create moments,” they explain. “Every track needed to make sense wherever people come together to dance.”

That intention sits at the heart of ‘Withness’. A title that reimagines the idea of “witnessing” into something more active and collective. ‘Withness’ is an album about experiencing life with others. It’s about the moments you share, the people who shape them, and the energy that becomes real only when you’re fully present. The album captures the collective high of friendship. Whether in a packed club, at a festival, or in a living room with friends, the album is designed to soundtrack moments of connection.

“The memories you make with people, they’re the witness of those moments. Withness is about being in it together.” - ANOTR

Sonically, the album marks a clear evolution. Drawing from their early club roots while building on the songwriting confidence developed on their previous records, classic drum machines and 909 samples sit alongside warm, 80s-tinged textures, layered vocals and modern production techniques, creating a sound that feels both nostalgic and forward-thinking.

A key part of the process was spontaneity. The duo embraced a free-flowing, collaborative studio environment, often working with a rotating cast of contributors. Their now-signature “open mic” approach encouraged anyone in the room to experiment with melodies, lyrics and vocal ideas. This energy translates directly into the album’s standout moments. From the euphoric pull of ‘Withness’ to the groove-led ‘Do It With Ya’, the uplifting ‘Paradise’, each track is built to live beyond a single setting.

The LP comes at a timely moment, as their single ‘Talk To You ft. 54 Ultra’ has become the biggest global breakout dance single this year. Sitting firmly in Spotify’s Global Top 200, it has surpassed 175 million streams, and is currently No. 21 in the UK Singles Chart. Spotify have tipped it in their much-coveted global ‘Sound Of The Summer 2026’ list and other highlights include peaking at No. 7 in Shazam’s Global Chart, No.1 on Beatport Top 100 and gaining over 600M UGC views so far.

Harvey McKay’s “Table for One” returns to Systematic Recordings for a special and deeply meaningful vinyl edition. Originally released digitally on Systematic, the EP captures the unmistakable sound of the Glasgow producer: powerful, hypnotic and uncompromising techno, driven by raw energy while always retaining the musicality and soul that defined Harvey’s work. Following Harvey’s passing in Spring 2026, this release inevitably carries a different weight. For Systematic and Marc Romboy, it is first and foremost a celebration of
his music and the lasting impression he left behind.
For the first time, “Table for One” will be available on vinyl, presented as a strictly limited 12” picture disc pressing of only 500 copies. The original version takes the A-side, while Marc Romboy’s remix opens the Bside, offering his own interpretation of Harvey’s distinctive sound. The release is completed by “Mycelium”, another powerful example of McKay’s ability to combine hypnotic repetition, precision and sheer dancefloor energy. More than a vinyl edition of an outstanding Systematic release, this record has become a tribute to an
artist whose music will continue to live on through clubs, DJs and dancefloors around the world.

Four edits bring together the creme de la creme of Polish rock, Danish new wave, Soviet avant-garde and Georgian synth-pop, giving each source a fresh dancefloor angle while keeping what made the original so distinctive. A Balearic rework, an Hi-NRG treatment and two more leftfield interventions turn these unlikely archival finds into records that work just as well at home as they do on a larger system. The original records behind these edits are notoriously hard to find, making Tooflie 008 a rather useful detour for diggers and collectors, as well as anyone with a soft spot for overlooked musical oddities.

They head up their own label and often explore melancholic sounds with cuddly grooves, and this time they land on Jason Wilkins aka Camille's Adeen label with three hugely tasteful original cuts, with a neat remix completing the package. 'All For Free' has a heavy groove that's softened by the gentle male vocals and smeared chords. 'Hard Lovin' Me' has the astral colours and swirling ambience of classic Larry Heard again, with a tender vocal. 'Find A Way' picks up the pace with more strident drums and crisp percussion as the vocal infuses the mix with sunk-spoken warmth and soul. 2x12inch06.10.202606.OCT.26

HouseElectroAmbientTechnoDubTechno

Since the release of DAMAGED in 2024, Michael Fiedler aka GHOST DUBS has been surfing intensifying waves of adulation, earning praise from such diverse underground legends as Justin Broadrick (Godflesh/Jesu), Regis, Stefan Betke (Pole) and Steve Von Till (Neurosis). With second album Oblique, his mastery of sculpting sound waves results in a spellbinding set of alien soundscapes: larger in scale, richer in tone and considerably more cinematic than its predecessor. Lower, deeper and moodier, its cloudy abstractions, shadowy pulsations and submerged rhythms find Fiedler reaching further into his own sonic void, crafting blurred melodies and addictive narco loops into something simultaneously heavyweight and hypnotic.

Lead single and album opener “Low Times” sets the atmospheric pressure to maximum, resembling a dream date between prime dirt-house era Andy Stott and Berlin dub-tech pioneers Basic Channel. From there, Oblique descends into a series of enchanting mood scenes: the furtive, balletic gyrations of “After All”, the haunting ambience and buried heartbeat throb of “Soft Collapse”, and the noirish atmospherics of “Blackout Dust”, which worms its way into the mind like some forgotten David Lynch scene. The spirit of reggae is more distanced here than on DAMAGED, but the ghost of Jamaican dub still permeates these foggy soundscapes, particularly on “Bombed Suburbs”, where Augustus Pablo-style melodicism is chopped, screwed and slowed into a magnetic lock groove.

Superficially minimal but maximal in its minute detail, Oblique is a record of contorted reflections, mesmeric echoes and tantalising audio mirages. By the vaporous mist of closing track “Almost a Structure”, obvious rhythm has been craftily filtered away, leaving a blurred and blunted residue full of mystery and implied narrative. Dense in the best possible sense and crushing when played loud yet equally potent played quiet, Oblique imagines dub techno burning its own rigid rulebook: sensual, funky and concussive rather than dry or alienating. Following Fiedler’s recent work scoring Sound of Falling, recognised at Cannes in 2025, Oblique finds Ghost Dubs shedding his influences and making it clear he has arrived at a sound entirely his own — essential deep listening and a bewitching dose of future shock.

Hector Ram and Ricky Ramirez are starting to celebrate ten years of Short Attention Records and it's US house stalwart DJ Aakmael they've enlisted to pop the champagne cork and cut the cake. He's one of those artists who turns out plenty of music, much of it sounding within the same consistent deep house framework. But there's always a little something to his tunes that keeps you coming back for more - a perfectly chosen sample, a nagging bassline, a sense of melancholy that you cannot escape. All of that is true on his latest. 'Things Always Happen' has keys that convey beautiful pain, then 'If You Believe' is a deep house haze with smudgy samples and blues-y ache. 'Free' is more light with trilling jazz-funk keys and earthy guitar frets sprinkled into the mix. 'Stopmotion' shuts down with a signature Aakmael bump. Just timeless stuff.

Crosstown Rebels
12inch08.10.202608.OCT.26

HouseDeepNu Disco

Monolink and CIOZ bring a stripped-back electronic edge to Crosstown Rebels with ‘Don’t Talk To Me’. The German multi-instrumentalist makes his Crosstown Rebels debut alongside Italy’s CIOZ, with OMRI. also returning to the label on remix duties. There are few artists in electronic music quite like Monolink. Moving naturally between singer-songwriter, producer and live performer, his music gives as much weight to voice, melody and narrative as it does to electronic production. For ‘Don’t Talk To Me’, he joins Bergamo-born, Berlin-based CIOZ, whose own work is driven by rich musicality and a willingness to move beyond convention. The link-up makes for an intriguing signing to Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels, bringing together two different approaches to electronic music without either losing their identity.

‘Don’t Talk To Me’ is deliberately pared back, pairing Monolink’s voice and songwriting with sparse textures and gently shifting melodies. Rather than building towards a conventional dancefloor payoff, the track unfolds with a quieter sense of tension, sitting somewhere between alternative songwriting and electronic voyage. An artist whose productions and remixes have quickly made him a recurring presence in the Crosstown Rebels universe, OMRI. takes the track deeper with his remix, adding darker, hypnotic qualities while preserving the original’s restraint. ‘Wasting Time’ closes the release with another sweeping collaboration, built around subtle melodic details and captivating synth flourishes.

The collaboration marks Monolink’s first outing on Crosstown, adding to an impressive career that has seen him craft his distinctive sound via Berlin-based imprint Embassy One and on labels like Cercle Records. Performances have taken that music from Burning Man and Montreux Jazz Festival to Day Zero Bali, where he joined Damian Lazarus for its first edition, as well as sets alongside Lazarus at Club Space, Zamna and more around the world. Meanwhile, CIOZ brings his own expansive approach back to the label, with material also landing via Monaberry, Frau Blau and Stil vor Talent, plus remixes for Diplo, Oliver Koletzki, Patrice Bäumel and the Crosstown head honcho. With both artists comfortable moving between emotional depth and dancefloor function, ‘Don’t Talk To Me’ gives that shared instinct plenty of room to breathe.

We are Excited to announce - The Department of Almost with our first full-length LP - Second Office. The Album
will be released via WSNWG on October 9th.
„Developed over extended Berlin studio sessions in January 2026, the record brings together two artists whose
respective platforms, STOOR and WSNWG, have long embraced artistic exchange and open creative practice.
Moving between crafty dancefloor material and more reflective and exploratory compositions, the album
develops a shared sonic language that extends beyond their two unmistakable, longestablished artistic voices.
Across eleven compositions, deliberate dancefloor material is elegantly intertwined with calm and spacious
soundscapes. A propulsive current gives way to passages of suspension and introspection. While rhythm and
atmosphere gradually fold into one another, the record favours gradual transformation over dramatic gesture.
The album's quieter moments open up a more contemplative space, extending its emotional register without
departing from its forward motion. Beneath, a subtle and understated sense of distance evokes spacious
environments and glacial landscapes – topographies in cold light.“
We have setup a preorder with the first Single - Fingerprints - on Bandcamp. A limited special edition will be
released via WSNWG Bandcamp on September 4th - 12.00pm CET.

2026 Repress

It's time for no.7 in the Disco Combine vinyl only series, with two heavy hitters re-worked and re-mixed from the tapes by Dave 'Love' Lee. On the A is 'Not This Time (Baby) (Give Me Some Moore Mix)' a much loved slice of Philly Disco,Aabsolutely bursting with lush orchestral arrangements. This classic jam has been given a noticeably different refresh, with a show-stopping acapella intro and more of the less heard instrumental passages. Speaking of classic, on the B is 'Jammin' Up In Smoke (Ready Steady Eddie Mix)' a Harris Machine, gospel charged chuggerAwhich is given a more groove based mix, which builds up instrumentally before hitting some falsetto vocals half way through, leading to a big hands in the air finale. Stay still if you can!!

PopElectronica

2026 Repress

The voraciously prolific Brit producer Four Tet returns to his untypeable-but-highly-listenable windings alias for this surprise new album on his own Text label. Remaining as a vinyl-only LP for now, and currently limited to 2000 copies, it was announced just a week or so ahead of the release. No track titles or details and a bucket load of vibes and strange ideas. Opening softly with gentle eastern instrumentation, he gradually pulls us deeper and deeper into his unique universe with every bendy frequency and strange accent. By the time we're three tracks in, we're bopping away to big bodied dubstep/garage mutations laced with chimes and all kinds of textures that only Keiran Hebden would choose to use. The B-side bares a similar varied, opened-hearted soul as we move from bumping club grooves to slo-mo ethereal shuffles that wouldn't sound out of place in a cathedral. Textbook Text. Grab this if you can, it won't hang around

Dave 'Love' Lee & John Morale - Mixed To The Maxxx (PART ONE) (2x12")

HouseDiscoHip-HopR & BSoul

Two of the most prolific remixers in the world of Disco,Dave 'Love' Lee and John Moraleshave teamed up for one of their biggest projects to date - 'Mixed To The Maxxx'. After gaining access from the legendary original artists, the pair take the multi-track tapes of many classic Disco, Funk & Soul tracks and re-work them...to the Maxxx!

Where Remixed With Love stands as Dave Lee's own gold-standard body of work, Mixed To The Maxxx sets that legacy alongside Morales' own decades-deep M+M body of work: Lee brings his musically dense, groove-first touch to the likes of Harold Melvin, Syreeta, Lenny Williams and The Brand New Heavies, while Morales applies his extended, dancefloor-built M+M treatment and crushes the likes of Barry White, The Temptations and Loleatta Holloway, plus Dennis Coffey's breakbeat classic "Scorpio" for the DJs and collectors alike. Both work from original tapes, surfacing parts barely audible or entirely unheard in the source mixes, and both know when to let a classic breathe rather than bury it under modern production. It's a pairing a long time in the making. Lee and Morales first talked about working together around a decade ago, and getting Mixed To The Maxxx off the ground took five years of patient work: tracking down usable stems, securing approvals, and navigating a licensing landscape where much of the best material is now tied up with major labels increasingly cautious about clearing remixes. What's landed here is the product of that graft as much as the pair's shared ear for a great record, the sound of two people who know exactly what they're looking for and are willing to put in the time to find it.

A double 12" sampler in summer 2025 previewed the record's range. A bass-driven overhaul ofThe Brothers Johnson's "The Real Thing" and an extended mix of Philly legends Bell & James' "Livin' It Up (Friday Night)" showcased Lee's side, while an anthemic take on Inner Life's "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and a tempo-lifted Light Of The World"London Town" flew the flag for Morales. Both drew strong early support ahead of the full LP.
